The Lord Jesus Christ can relieve you from the burden of guilt you are bearing. Here’s how:
1. Open your heart to Him
In order to be relieved of your load of guilt, you must first acknowledge your need for a savior, acknowledge your sins, and then receive Jesus Christ. Only He can do this “impossible” task of guilt-removal. He does it thoroughly, completely, and entirely.
Consider Hebrews 10:17: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And Romans 8:1, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
2. Live by His Holy Spirit dwelling within you
When you acknowledge your sins and receive the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, wholeness and restoration happen on the spot. Immediately. Without fail. The load of your guilt dissolves, and His Holy Spirit is deposited in you to guide you.
Consider John 14:16-17: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. … He lives with you and will be in you.” And Philippians 4:7: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
3. Know the Word of God
You know you are forgiven and liberated from guilt, but to experience freedom daily you must know God’s Word, the Bible. Read it. Study it. Underline it. Memorize it. Become an expert in the New Testament. This keeps you steeped in God’s truth and protects your mind from attack.
Consider Matthew 4:4: “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” And Ephesians 6:17: “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
