Have you ever tended a garden or worked on a farm? If so, you know that it is a lot of work! I always marvel when my uncles gather their tools and head out to the fields to "make hay." They can't turn the grass into hay unless it's perfectly ready; it's also important that the tools are in good shape!

Good Spiritual Shape

As tools in God's spiritual harvest, we must allow God to keep us in proper condition to do His work. Here's what God said about His people: "I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure" (Zechariah 13:9). And King David prayed, "You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart" (Psalm 17:3). It's important to spend time studying and learning from God's Word as often as possible, as well as spending time with mature Christians

Spiritual Farming

When harvesting, my uncles identify which fields are ready to be harvested. Similarly, when we work in "spiritual farming," we need to understand where to minister. Jesus knew certain people would be more ready to hear God’s message: "Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand" (Mark 4:9) . He also explained, "To those who listen to My teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge" (Matthew 13:12).

God Will Lead

When we are spiritually prepared and have identified where to do His work, God can use us to minister to those around us. Jesus told His followers, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News"(Mark 16:15), and we can have great influence on the world around us. We can pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us, just as It empowered the Disciples at Pentecost, to share the Lord’s message "that God has made [Jesus], to be both Lord and Messiah!" (Acts 2:36).

More than 5 billion of the world's 7 billion people don't know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and are facing the reality of everlasting death. Will you join us and turn your heart towards reaching these lost ones for Jesus?

Step 2 in our Prayer, Care & Share training, involves building relationships with unbelievers around us. (Note: These Prayer Care & Share steps are independent of each other, and any believer can start from wherever they are in their Christian walk.)

So how do you build relationships with unbelievers around you? By intentionally engaging your heart to care for the people you meet at work, play, school or anywhere else. This includes neighbors, family, and people you meet on the internet (via GMO or other social sites).

Look at all these people with the eyes of an evangelist, asking yourself and God the question: Do they know Jesus as Savior? Sometimes it will be obvious; sometimes you won't know without talking to them.

Next, start praying Step 1: Pray (silently or aloud) the blessing, peace and love of Jesus on them (as described in a previous Newsletter ). Pray for a worker in the harvest to come to them -- it might be you!

When you have your next quiet time with the Lord, once again bring these people before the Lord. Listen to what He says to you about them, especially the unsaved and the brokenhearted.
